The short version: the calculators run in your browser, nothing you type is sent anywhere, and no account is ever required. The longer version is below.

What the calculators do with your inputs

Nothing leaves your device. Every estimate on this site is worked out by JavaScript running in your own browser. Your footprint, roof age, deductible and every other figure you enter are held in memory while the page is open. They are never transmitted to this site or to anyone else, and there is no server-side record of anything you type.

One exception, and it is entirely your choice. Each result has a Save button. If you press it, the figures you entered are written to your own browser's local storage so the form is still filled in when you come back. That data stays on your device — it is not uploaded, and nobody else can read it. If you never press Save, nothing persists after you close the tab.

To remove a saved estimate, press Clear on the same result, or clear site data for replacecost.com in your browser settings. Clearing it does not affect the calculators.

There is no account, no login, and no email capture anywhere on the site.

What is collected automatically

Like almost every website, the hosting server records standard request logs — IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These are used to keep the site running and to investigate faults. They are not linked to anything you enter into a calculator.

Advertising

This site carries advertising, which is how it stays free to use.

Google is one of the vendors serving those ads. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and may use their own cookies. This policy does not cover the practices of those third parties, and this site has no access to or control over cookies they set.

Analytics

Aggregate traffic measurement may be used to understand which pages are useful and which are not — how many people visited a page, roughly where in the world they were, and which page sent them. This is reported in aggregate and is not used to identify individuals.

Affiliate and referral links

Some outbound links on this site may be affiliate links, meaning a commission could be earned if you go on to request a quote or make a purchase. This never changes the estimate a calculator produces, and it never costs you anything extra. Where a link is commercial, it is marked as such on the page.

Cookies you can control

Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most let you block third-party cookies specifically. Doing so will not stop the calculators working, since they do not rely on cookies at all. It may affect the ads you are shown.

Children

This site is aimed at homeowners and is not directed at children under 13. No information is knowingly collected from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Because this site does not collect personal information through its calculators, there is usually nothing held to begin with. If you want to ask anyway, use the contact page.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.

One honest caveat This policy describes how the site actually works, in plain language. It is not legal advice and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer. If you operate in a jurisdiction with specific requirements — GDPR, CCPA and similar — have it checked against those rules before relying on it.
Every estimator, one method

All replacement cost tools

Each tool itemizes the work, shows a planning range, and explains how age, depreciation and your deductible can change the insurance check.

Planning summary: Start with the physical replacement estimator, then run the Claim gap tool with the replacement figure, item age, expected life and deductible from your declarations page. The result is a planning estimate — not a contractor quote or coverage decision.
